  斯蒂夫·平克虽说早在二十年前就已经踏入影视界，但真正作为影片的灵魂人物导演，此次却是头一遭。作为一名年入不惑之年，有着演、编、导三重身份的斯蒂夫·平克似乎对电影有着自己别样认识。尽管，斯蒂夫在演员的道路上走得并不是那么星光灿烂，反而却在编剧方面是小有成就：五年前的一部《失恋排行榜》一举获得了有着英伦奥斯卡之称的英国电影学院奖最佳编剧提名。2006年，他除了执导本片之外，并没有放弃自己从事已久的演员职业，出演了影片《战争录像带》（the war tape），看来是多条腿走路的斯蒂夫·平克誓要再次在好莱坞造梦工场为自己热爱的电影事业博上一大注。 

  2001年的《惊人食人族》（Jeepers Creepers）让观众在体验惊悚气氛的同时认识了长着一张娃娃脸的英俊小生贾斯汀·朗。这位出生于上个世纪七十年代后期的“老帅哥”，与青春片结下了浓厚的情谊，在诸如《等待》（Waiting）、《疯狂甲克虫》中都在大肆展现着自己的青春魅力，虽然没有过真正的大红大紫，却也获得了不少粉丝们的喜爱。2006年，除了在这部小成本影片中挑大梁之外，贾斯汀·朗还介入了珍尼弗·安妮斯顿与文斯·沃恩之间，演绎的那段波澜不经的《分手男女》的闹剧。在本片中，贾斯汀·朗跨越年龄限制出演高中生，驾轻就熟的演技再次引人注目。在影片中与贾斯汀·朗“亲密过招”的正是去年跟随一条牛仔裤（《魔裤好姐妹》）而上位的布莱克·莱夫里。由于兄弟姐妹全是演员，因此莱夫里走上演艺道路并不奇怪，当然这个古灵精怪的女孩也有自己独到之处，此次在片中饰演莫妮卡，就会用上无数整盅怪招来对付巴特莱比，为影片营造了极为出色的喜剧氛围。颇引人注目。

  连续被八所大学拒收之后，正面临高中毕业的巴特比·盖恩斯被升学的压力逼到了一个死胡洞里，他再也不能用他独有的油腔滑调来得过且过地过日子了，这个整天处在混混沌沌之中的学子一直质疑美国的教育系统和社会法则是否合理，可是事到如今，他却不得不面对“另类”所带来的后果：没有一所大学肯向他敞开大门。如此可怕的现实令这个刚刚年满十八岁的年轻人对自己的未来倍感忧心，他觉得自己是一个被上帝遗弃的可怜虫，惟一的解决办法就是想招自救……

  图片来源MX电影库 巴特比认为，无条件进入大学的最好方法，就是自己创建一所--至少可以应付父母那一关。在他那有点神经质的好友斯库雷德的帮助下，再加上其他几个和巴特比一样没有大学肯接收的同学的出谋划策，他们终于在一所废弃的精神病院开办了一所“著名”的南方哈门工业大学，简称“S.H.I.T.”，所有的规则、课程以及完整的教学体制，都由这些所谓的“创办人”自己制定，而且，他们并非这所学校仅有的几个学生，在“任何人都能来上学”的旗号下，越来越多被大学拒收的高中毕业生被“录取”到这所新学校中，至少他们在精神上成了这所大学的一年级新生。

  为了维持这所学校的正常运转，必须得有成年的法人成为学校的代表，于是，巴特比雇佣斯库雷德的舅舅本作为这里的图片来源 MX电影库名誉校长。与此同时，爱神也轻轻地敲起了巴特比的心门，他爱上了住在隔壁的莫妮卡，可是莫妮卡甚至不知道有巴特比这号人物的存在。在一群学习不灵光、却异常聪明的年轻人的支撑下，这个漏洞百出的可笑计划竟然真的成功了，孩子们在“S.H.I.T.”的“监管”下得到了灵魂上的解放，因为学校鼓励学生追求个性化的时代。然而，随着“S.H.I.T.”的名气越来越大，却引起了另外一座也叫“哈门”的名牌大学的校长迪安·范·浩恩的注意。
